His Dark Materials Book Cover

Hey folks, long time no talk!
I was working on this book cover for two weeks on and off, and as my semester is about to come
to an end, there is lots more to do before exams! Wish me luck.

Anyway, every week or two we are given an assignment in illustration class. This time our professor
asked us to pick out our favorite book we have read recently and create a cover for it. traditionally or digitally.
Well, since I still have a lot to learn when it comes to traditional art and watercolours, I decided to give it a go.
It's sort of messy and there are a lot of errors concerning the anatomy of the children, but please bear with me.
I didn't only come up with this whole concept and colour sheme, I also translated it all into the art nouveau style and
even did some trypography by hand! Soooo...yeah. I am kind of proud.
I realize my verison of Will looks a lot older than Lyra, who I have actually drawn like the actress who plays her in the movies. Obviously she was younger then...

I have also drawn with coffe for the first time! Damn, it smelled so good! Didn't give me the effect I wanted, really, but oh well ~ and you cant really see it on the scanned version, but I used gold and silver pigments to make Iorek's armour, the dragonfly wings and the lines on the frame shine!
